Samsung suspends production of Galaxy S21 FE due to chip shortage

Many of us have been waiting for the Galaxy S21 FE because this phone should have made Samsung’s high-end Galaxy S21 series more acceptable to the public. However, there is some bad news now, because a report shows that Samsung has suspended production of the Galaxy S21 FE in the context of global chip shortages affecting the progress of global mobile technology.

The report came from a reliable source, which claimed that Samsung stopped production because it did not have enough processors for the Galaxy S21 FE. Samsung notified their supply partners on Friday that they are suspending production of S21 FE components and canceling orders for various materials.

Partners even believe that this decision means that the Galaxy S21 FE that many people are looking forward to may be cancelled. However, the release dates of Galaxy Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Watch 4 seem to be confirmed.

Samsung has extensively used the Snapdragon 888 and their self-developed Exynos 2100 processor combination on the Galaxy S21 FE, and there is no other choice. Coupled with the fact that Samsung will launch a large number of flagship mainstream devices in August, it is reasonable to have to make this sacrifice.

Theoretically, production may be restored, but can not be ignored is that in the smartphone world, to stop production people should be worried about things. Let’s take a look at how Samsung and Qualcomm will deal with this matter. Not long ago, Qualcomm clearly mentioned that the chip shortage may last for several years.

In addition, the suspension of S21 FE has also aroused the industry’s concern about whether Samsung’s mainstream smartphone product lines (such as the A-series) launched later this year and early next year can be delivered smoothly.
