Sony has enough chips to make PS5, and it aims to sell 14.8 million units this year

Sony Corporation recently released its first fiscal quarter report for the 2021 fiscal year ending June 30. According to the report, 2.3 million PS5 and 500,000 PS4 were sold in the first fiscal quarter, while the total sales of PS5 reached 10.1 million.

According to the latest report, Sony Group Chief Financial Officer Hiroki Totoki said on a recent conference call that the global semiconductor shortage has affected many areas, but Sony has taken some measures to deal with it.

For the PS5 game console, Sony has set a sales target for this year and has ensured a sufficient supply of chips to achieve this goal. Officials said Sony plans to sell 14.8 million PS5 units this fiscal year, which will bring total sales to 22 million units.

Although Hiroki Totok had previously been pessimistic about the semiconductor shortage and said that the chip supply problem will continue until 2022, the good news he recently announced in his financial report undoubtedly brings hope to players waiting for PS5.

Since the first sale of the Sony PS5 National Bank in May this year, few sources have been released. It is expected that players will have more opportunities in the future to purchase PS5 game consoles at the original price of $479.
