Pixel Live Wallpaper now supports Android 12’s Dynamic Color feature

One of the most interesting innovations introduced by Android 12 and the new Material You interface is undoubtedly the possibility of creating custom themes based on the background image. Dynamic Color, this is the name of the function, allows you to apply color accents to numerous system elements by obtaining them from the background selected by the user.

However, the feature was limited to static wallpapers only, making it impossible to apply a theme for users who instead preferred to use one of the many wallpapers in the collection created for the Pixels. With the update of Pixel Live Wallpaper, the application that allows you to organize and manage animated wallpapers, things change and it is now possible to fully enjoy this novelty of Material You.

In order to test the novelty, it is, therefore, necessary to update Pixel Live Wallpapers to version 1.6 and have Android 12 Beta 4.1 (released a few days ago ) on your Pixel smartphone, although the feature could also work with beta 4. What is certain is that Beta 3 does not support this feature and you will have to settle for one of the four basic colors for accents.

In the gallery below you can see a preview, with the old version in the two images on the left and the new one in the images on the right, which show how the correct color is recognized. The Pixel Live Wallpaper update is being rolled out on the Play Store.

If you can not be available to download from here the file APK to be installed manually In this case, however, you may lose any already downloaded backgrounds, one thing annoying if you have downloaded several large files, therefore you’ll have to download it again.
