Samsung’s next gen Galaxy Book latest leak shows it uses 14-core Alder Lake-P processor

Bench Leaks just discovered Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy Book laptop in the User Benchmark benchmark database. The device code name in the list is NP_930QED, following the classic naming convention of the Galaxy Book notebook product line. But what surprises us most is that it is equipped with Intel’s upcoming 12th-generation Alder Lake-P 14-core processor.

The submitter of this entry is said to be from a testing laboratory in Hong Kong, China. Samsung’s existing Galaxy Book lineup has provided 13.5/15.6 inch model options, supplemented by Intel’s 11th generation Tiger Lake Core i5/i7 processors (4C/8T). However, Bench Leaks pointed out that the newly discovered Galaxy Book laptop is equipped with a 14-core/20-thread Alder Lake-P processor.

This means that it uses 6 Golden Cove high-performance cores that support hyper-threading + 8 Gracemont energy-saving cores, but the frequency is as low as 2.25 GHz, which means that it is just a fairly early prototype. In terms of graphics, the device only uses the Iris Xe core display based on the Xe-LP architecture and does not have a separate display blessing.

Previously, Samsung only paired high-end Odyssey models with a unique display, but this product line has not been updated since Intel’s 8th generation processors. Even though the Galaxy Book Odyssey standard model has ushered in the upgrade of the 11th generation processor, the highest model is only the model with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti.

In terms of storage, Samsung has equipped the new-generation Galaxy Book with 16GB DDR5-4400 memory and 256GB PM9A1 NVMe SSD (PCIe 4.0 x4 interface). The strange thing is that the software has detected that the memory frequency can reach DDR5-6400, but it was still reduced to DDR5-4400 during the test. One guess is that it may be LPDDR5X instead of standard SO-DIMM.

In terms of screen, the current Galaxy Book uses a standard 1080p 60Hz refresh rate AM OLED panel, but the new Alder Lake device may usher in a slight upgrade. Finally, referring to the CPU configuration options of Intel’s 12th generation Core i5/i7, it is estimated that the price of the new generation of Galaxy Book maybe around 800 ~ 1300 US dollars.
