Android 12 will improve the integration between Google Pixel and Chrome OS

For several months now, the Google team has been working on improving the integration system between Android 12 devices and those based on Chrome OS and one of the latest news is the functionality with the code name Eche.

As we learn from 9to5Google, the smartphones of the Google Pixel range will be the first to be able to count on this new function, which should represent a sort of solution to allow apps to be mirrored on Chromebooks.

For months, the developer team of the Mountain View giant has been working on this new feature, which should be implemented with Android 12 and by virtue of which users in the recent apps screen should see a special Push button once touched which will show a list of devices to send content to.

Probably the devices that will be searched for are Chromebooks, managed from this point of view by Eche (this is the name chosen for the Chrome OS part) while the same task on smartphones will be performed by Exo.

According to what can be learned from some references unearthed on Google Play Services, users will have the possibility to use the apps of their phone directly on a Chromebook when they are at home and this last clarification seems to suggest that among the requirements there is also that both devices are on the same network for a direct streaming connection.

In practice, Exo and Eche should allow users to use the applications of their phone on a Chrome OS device: this should be done through a special Push button on the Recent screen of Android 12, which, once selected, will start a notification on the Chromebook to accept and see the application in a new window.

Another way to take advantage of the new feature is the ability to receive phone notifications on the Chromebook and be able to start streaming directly from them, thus being able to view an incoming message or respond to it without the need to take the Google Pixel smartphone in hand.

There is currently no information on when this system will be made available to users.
