Samsung starts removing ads from its pre-installed apps

Earlier this year, Samsung promised it would remove ads from proprietary apps, such as Samsung Weather, Samsung Pay, and Samsung Theme, but the company did not provide a timeline for the operation at the time.

Now it looks like Samsung has finally started getting rid of ads from pre-installed apps in its One UI interface, starting with Samsung Health and Samsung Pay. In a statement on Samsung Community forums, a moderator revealed that the Samsung Health app will not display ads starting today, while a separate post from a community member claimed that the company removed the banner ad from the Samsung Pay app. sharing the screenshot below.

While the company has yet to provide any information on when it will remove ads from the rest of its apps, the fact that Samsung is finally looking to remove ads from One UI’s stock apps is certainly welcome. We expect to see similar updates for the Samsung Weather, Samsung Theme, and more apps in the coming weeks, however, it’s still unclear whether the company will similarly remove push notification ads on its devices as well.

It’s worth noting that Samsung has currently only removed ads from Samsung Health and Samsung Pay in the South Korean version of One UI, so it may take some time for these changes to take effect in other regions.
