Microsoft released first public preview of Visual Studio 2022 for Mac

According to the latest reports, in April this year, Microsoft announced the latest iteration of its IDE, called Visual Studio 2022. The first preview version of the software was launched on Windows in June, and in the following month, a private preview version of the Mac version was also launched. Now, Microsoft said that Visual Studio 2022 has left the Mac version of the private testing stage and has launched a public preview version of Visual Studio 2022 for Mac.

Microsoft emphasizes that this version, it focuses on providing a native macOS experience, which further promotes the use of assistive technologies such as macOS VoiceOver. The speed and stability of the integrated development environment have also been enhanced, and developers should face fewer crashes. There is also a new Git change that is more consistent with other SKUs of Visual Studio.

Through the .NET 6 RC1 version, support for .NET 6 and C# 10 is being added. As before, network and cloud development can still use .NET Core 3.1 and higher, mobile development is supported through the Xamarin traditional project, and game development is supported by Unity.

As we know, the .NET Multiplatform Application User Interface (MAUI) has been postponed to the second quarter of 2022. Therefore, although the public preview version of Visual Studio 2022 for Mac allows .NET MAUI projects to be opened, so far, very few projects have been supported. As it gets closer to the widespread use of .NET MAUI next year, Microsoft plans to strengthen this in subsequent versions.
