One UI 4.0 introduces one of the latest Google Photos news to Samsung Gallery

The Samsung developer team in recent days has kicked off the release of the second beta of One UI 4.0 (based on Android 12) for the smartphones of the Samsung Galaxy S21 series and among the innovations included in this update we also find one that concerns Samsung Gallery and which is inspired by a novelty recently introduced in Google Photos: we refer to the possibility of modifying some image metadata. In practice, thanks to this novelty, users can change the metadata of a photo by opening it, tapping the overflow menu and then selecting the desired details.

How the Samsung Gallery app will change with One UI 4.0 and Android 12

Samsung Gallery with One UI 4.0 will therefore allow you to change the name of the photo, the date and time it was taken, and the place it was captured. Here are some screenshots that show us this news. This is a feature that can prove to be very convenient, for example, if you have to copy some photos from another device to the device and the date is set incorrectly: being able to edit the information directly from the gallery saves a lot of time.

As we learn from Android Police, there are two other small innovations for the Samsung Gallery app: the first is the removal from the Labs menu of the option to change the colors (this is probably because with Android 12 this task has been assigned to Material You) while the second involves a change in the Create menu (when selecting multiple images, instead of a simple list of available options, the new version will show them as boxes, with a brief description of what each does below).

We remind you that the Samsung Gallery app can be downloaded from the Samsung store (here you will find the page dedicated to it) or from the Google Play Store.
