GTA Trilogy: On Switch it needs more space, the game card will not be enough

Anyone who pre-ordered GTA Trilogy for Nintendo Switch could get a nasty surprise. In fact, as revealed by the official box art, available on the Target retailer website, the three games do not find space on the game card. What does this mean? That it is necessary, as has happened in the past, to proceed with an additional download.

Let’s go in order: the GTA trilogy is available practically everywhere: on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox consoles and Nintendo Switch. Rockstar, however, has chosen a decidedly atypical distribution method: the collection, which includes Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto Vice City and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas will in fact be available on November 11 in its digital version, while the physical versions will arrive on December 7. For the Nintendo console, however, the physical version will not include all game data. This could be a problem for some users who have the console available, considering that the memory of the base console is only 32GB.

Rockstar’s choice, however, appears even stranger if we think about the weight of the collection of the three iconic GTA titles. In fact, according to official information, the entire Switch version weighs 25.4GB: it is true that it is a lot in relation to the memory of the console, but it is also true that the game cards of the platform are able to contain up to 8GB of more data. in most cases, with game cards that go up to 64GB of space.

The only logical reason why GTA Trilogy won’t be rolling out on a larger game card, most likely, lies in the cost. Perhaps the studio has decided not to spend more money than necessary to release the entire game on a single 64GB game card. The real reasons, however, we will never know: ours, therefore, remains a warning for all those who aim to play the collection on Nintendo Switch.
