The fans of smiley face impatiently waiting for such a long time for Unicode 14.0, whose release has been postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic and finally of The Unicode Consortium team has unveiled the new collection of emoji to 2021.
As it was specified a few days ago through the official account on Twitter, among the 838 new characters of Unicode 14 there are 37 new emojis, destined to land on smartphones and desktop operating systems over the next year.

Among the novelties, we find a greeting, a single eye that peeks, a face that melts, and a face that holds back tears but also hands in various positions (and colors), including an emoji of two hands that form a heart. And again, a nest with eggs and an empty one, a slide, three beans, a troll, a crutch, a life jacket and a driver’s license.
In practice, there does not seem to be any big news compared to the emojis anticipated last July by the team of developers of The Unicode Consortium and that users have had the opportunity to vote to elect the one with the most preferences.

In any case, there are small changes that make the final result even more effective, such as the finer details of the face with tears of emotion. For the first time, The Unicode Consortium is also officially adding formal support for different skin tones and that should lead to the unification of the look and feel of those emojis across all platforms.
These new emojis will be integrated into a future Android update, probably planned for 2022 but there is a good chance that Google users will be able to start exploiting them even sooner, as they could be implemented in the next releases of Gboard and Google Messages, landing on also done in previous versions of the mobile OS of the Mountain View giant.
