Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt next-gen version is expected to be launched on time

In announcing its quarterly financial performance report on Monday, CD Projekt stated that the next-generation versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 are expected to achieve the target date and will be launched on time next year.

The next-generation version of the two games was originally scheduled to be released this year, but later the next-generation version of Cyberpunk 2077 was postponed to the first quarter of next year, and the next-generation version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was postponed to the second quarter of next year. Players with the current version will support free upgrades after the game is launched.

Regarding the postponement of the game, last week, CD Projekt President Adam Kiciński also said that this is a difficult decision, but we do need extra time to adjust the visual effects and performance of the game to achieve the highest possible quality throughout the game process.

In addition, CD Projekt once again reiterated that it will “gradually” introduce multiplayer functions in the Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher series of games, but it did not mention which game was introduced first.

Adam Kiciński said: We plan to add multiplayer features to these two games in the future. We can’t reveal which game will introduce this feature first, but we will learn from the experience and lessons from the first attempt, and then Gradually add more content, so we hope to gradually open the door to multiplayer games, step by step.

CD Projekt originally planned to produce an independent 3A-level Cyberpunk multiplayer game after Cyberpunk 2077, but this plan was officially declared bankrupt in March this year. We hope to carefully consider every step of the plan to establish a powerful online function. We are creating an online technology framework that can be seamlessly integrated into the development of our future games. This technology will power us.

Details of the third-quarter financial report:

CD Projekt’s total revenue in the third quarter of 2021 was 144 million Polish zlotys, and a profit of 16 million Polish zlotys; revenue for the quarter increased compared with the same period last year 40%, while the profit declined, mainly due to the continuous expenditure on the update of Cyberpunk 2077 and the investment in the early development of new projects.

As more and more developers join the team, the focus of the studio’s work is gradually tilting towards new projects such as the information chapter of Cyberpunk 2077. In the past few months, CD Projekt has acquired two development teams located in North America: Digital Scapes (now renamed CD PROJEKT RED Vancouver) and The Molasses Flood to supplement development capabilities.
