YouTube TV app update, optimize the handling of playlists

Google has previously stated that TV is one of the important platforms for YouTube’s future development, so the company has been improving the YouTube application on the smart TV platform. This week, the YouTube app for TV was updated to optimize the way it handles playlists.

With the latest update, YouTube for Android TV and other smart TV platforms now displays an appropriate playlist user interface when you click on the playlist. This is an update to the previous behavior, which just played the entire playlist at once.

The new user interface displays playlists and their names and other details. On the left side of the display, there are play all, loop play and save to library options. On the right, the videos are arranged in order, which allows users to watch the playlist from any point.

It is worth noting that we have seen this behavior unfold on the latest application update, which is version 2.15.006 of Android TV/Google TV devices. Another user told us that they saw the same situation on a Samsung TV with an app version of 2.1.498.
