Sending voice messages via WhatsApp just got a lot better

WhatsApp comes with an update for the voice message function. This update allows you to preview a voice message before pressing send.

Check Voice Messages in WhatsApp

WhatsApp announces the new feature on Twitter and also indicates the reason for the new feature in the tweet. It can be very frustrating to have to delete and re-record a speech clip every time because you messed up something. The new option allows you to pre-listen to your recording to make sure there are no errors. Then you can still tap send. Or delete the message and record it again.

That is how it works

The new function can be found at the microphone button at the bottom right of a conversation in WhatsApp. Not sure how to send voice messages in WhatsApp? We have added that below for your convenience.

Send a WhatsApp voice message

  • Open an individual chat or group chat.
  • Tap and hold the microphone and start talking.
  • Once you’re done, let go of the microphone. The voice message is sent automatically.

While recording a voice message, you can slide to the left to cancel the message.

Send a longer WhatsApp voice message

  • Open an individual chat or group chat.
  • Tap and hold the microphone and start talking.
  • Swipe up to enable hands-free recording.

You can also tap the red pause button to pause your recording or preview your message. Tap the red microphone to resume recording your voice message. Once you are satisfied, you can send the voice message to the recipient.
