According to Sony’s official news, the Sony Group announced that it has developed a robot that can move stably and efficiently on uneven roads.
The bottom of the robot uses a six-leg wheel design, and the leg structure consists of six drives with wheels. The robot uses wheels on flat ground and uses wheels and legs to move up and down in places with height differences such as stairs.
Sony claims that this design allows the robot to run stably and efficiently on both flat and uneven roads. This model inherits the design concept of Sony’s four-legged walking robot exhibited at the International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS 2021) in 2021.
It can distribute the load of the legs during operation or in a static state. This design allows the robot to transport heavy objects up to 20 kg, maintaining high operating efficiency. Sony said that the robot is being developed at the Sony R&D center.
