Spotify has announced Podcast Rating to assign ratings to your favorite podcasts

Spotify has announced the introduction of podcast ratings, the “Podcast Ratings” which allow users to rate an episode with a rating between 1 and 5 stars. This feature, according to Spotify, will offer an additional way to grab a listener’s attention and potentially find new listeners.

In fact, the higher the score received, the more likely it is that other listeners will decide to listen to a show. Furthermore, podcast ratings also allow the creator to get quick feedback on the progress of the content and more easily understand what to do if necessary to improve. In other words, it’s a useful feature for everyone.

Podcast ratings give listeners the opportunity to support their favorite podcast shows, enabling a two-way feedback loop between creator and listener.

On Spotify, unlike other platforms, users will only be able to rate a podcast after listening to at least 30 seconds of an episode. To do this, just a simple tap from any podcast page in the Spotify app (both iOS and Android). The average rating will be publicly displayed on the dedicated page along with the total number of ratings it has received.

The podcast rating function will be progressively extended globally. Creators will be able to check their ratings at any time from the Spotify podcast page once they have received at least 10 ratings.

Spotify is focusing heavily on podcasts. In recent months it has also acquired Megaphone (formerly Panopoly), a company specializing in the production of high-profile podcasts, and has secured the contents of Gimlet, The Ringer and Parcast. Furthermore, since last month, subscription podcasts have also arrived in Italy.
