Apple’s new 27-inch iMac Pro expected to be officially announced at the end of the first quarter of 2022

Rumor has it that Apple will soon release a new 27-inch iMac, possibly called the iMac Pro. Apple Insider expects the new iMac to go in one of two directions — either a high-end chipset to compliment the Pro’s features or a consumer-grade chip packed into a larger, colorful case than the current Apple Silicon. Either way, the Cupertino tech giant will make an announcement sometime in 2022.

The Mac lineup has changed significantly since the introduction of the M1 processor. In particular, the 24-inch iMac with a slimmer design and the launch of the 2021 MacBook Pro with a more powerful M1 Pro/M1 Max processor.

If Apple intends to release a new 27-inch iMac Pro in March, it is likely to use the same M1 Pro or M1 Max processor. Although the design language of the 24-inch model is followed, the color scheme may only have the option of space gray + silver, and there is a black border outside the screen.

Well-known whistleblowers such as @dylandkt and Ross Young have repeatedly stated that the 27-inch iMac Pro is expected to introduce a 120Hz ProMotion high refresh screen + mini LED backlight, making it complement the new MacBook Pro.

However, in another report, another source gave a different opinion, claiming that the large iMac will not have the mini LED, but will provide a variety of color options (meaning it will be released for the consumer market).

New all-in-one or connectivity options with up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports + SD card reader. If so, Apple may wait for the next-generation M2 processor to be ready before releasing a new large-screen iMac Pro (such as 30-32 inches). But the latter rumor didn’t make much of a splash, and supply chain sources only hinted at the 27-inch version.

An unlikely rumor suggests that the new iMac may use a Face ID face sensor, and while this is in line with iPad tablet speculation, we haven’t seen it on the Mac product line yet — even if the 14/16-inch MacBook comes with a face sensor. There are bangs that are notched.

Finally, the iMac Pro, which is expected to arrive in March-April 2022, may provide peripherals that match the color of the host. In addition to the refresh of the keyboard and mouse design, the machine may also use a screen with a quality comparable to the Pro Display XDR.

Either way, at least until the new Mac Pro workstation is released, the fabled iMac is expected to be Apple’s most powerful Apple Silicon computer yet.
