Together with what will be the Galaxy S22 series, the new line of tablets is about to arrive: Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, consisting of the base model, S8+ and S8 Ultra. From various leaks, we have learned how they will be aesthetically made and what their technical specifications will be. So let’s see what are the news for the Android tablet sector from Samsung.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, S8 Plus and S8 Ultra: what do we know about the new top-of-the-range tablet series?
Design and display
The rear design of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series looks more or less similar between the three models and does not differ much from the previous Tab S7. The color situation is different: S8 and S8 + will be available in Black, Silver Pink colors. For the S8 Ultra, however, there will be only one Black color.
And for the display? If we start from the basic model, we find an 11 ″ WQXGA (2560 x 1600 pixels) TFT LTPS LCD panel with a density of 276 PPI and a 120 Hz refresh rate. This is dimensions of 253.8 x 165.3 x 6.33 m and a weight of 503 g, for a metal and aluminum body.
Switching to S8+, the panel is of the Super AMOLED type and the diagonal rises to 12.4 WQXGA + (2800 x 1772 pixels) at 266 PPI and always at 120 Hz, in dimensions of 258 x 185 x 5.7 mm and 567 g.
Finally, we come to the Ultra model and its 14.6 WQXGA + panel (2960 x 1848 pixels) at 240 PPI and 120 Hz, in dimensions of 326.4 x 208.6 x 5.5 mm and 726 g. But its peculiarity is that it is equipped with a notch to contain a double camera.
Hardware and software
Another department where we find points in common between the three is certainly the hardware one. The SoC used for the three Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 is Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 4 nm SoC with 3 GHz ARMv9 octa-core CPU, Adreno 730 GPU and expandability with microSD.
For the battery, the standard version would have an 8,000 mAh module, the Plus 10,090 mAh model and the Ultra 11,120 mAh model , all with 45W charging . For all, there is also the S-Pen support, with magnetic attachment on the rear section and sensitivity equal to 4,096 pressure levels.
The connectivity department includes USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, Wi-Fi 6E Dual Band, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS / GLONASS / Galileo / BeiDou on all models and there are also variants with 5G modems. There are also four AKG stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. On the software side, all are equipped with Android 12 with One UI 4.1 interface.
Camera
The camera department of the Galaxy Tab S8 series is interesting. Not so much for the rear with the S8, S8 Plus and S8 Ultra which have a double 13 + 6 MP sensor with wide-angle, but for the selfie camera of the Ultra model. In fact, there is a double 12 + 12 MP sensor surrounded by a drop notch. For the other two, there is a single 12MP sensor.
