Jio is working on a laptop JioBook with Windows 10 ARM pre-installed

Jio is best known for its operation of India’s telecom network and cheap subsidized equipment. Recently, the JioPone Next and the upcoming JioPhone 5G have also been in the spotlight, and Jio laptops have also been rumored for some time.

It was also mentioned recently in a hardware certification document, which unfortunately doesn’t reveal any device specs, other than to say that it’s clearly an ARM-based computer, not an x86, and is certified to run an ARM version of Windows 10.

The document also refers to Emdoor Digital Technologies Ltd. – The OEM of this laptop, a Shenzhen-based company specializing in the manufacture of this type of hardware. Since we know that the “product name” of the device will be “QL218_V2.2_JIO_11.6_20220113_v2”, it is not difficult to find that Emdoor Digital Technology has a large supply of “218 series” devices after checking the official website.

However, all of these use Intel or AMD’s X86 CPUs, not ARM chips. Their designs also look very different, so we can’t be sure which case Jio will use, or design it entirely from the ground up, as Emdoor Digital Technologies apparently customized this product specifically for Jio. Whatever the JioBook ends up being, we can be pretty sure that, as Jio has always done, its price tag will be very surprising.
