WhatsApp Win11/10 UWP beta version adds support for pure dark mode, emoji tools

According to the latest report, Facebook is not planning to withdraw from the UWP market and is actively developing new versions of WhatsApp for Windows 11 and Windows 10. The WhatsApp UWP app surfaced last year with some new features like Action Center integration, WinUI controls, voice and video calling support, and more.

WhatsApp UWP beta is separate from the WhatsApp desktop app and has some improvements over the original desktop app. Unlike the web-based desktop app, WhatsApp UWP has been completely recoded to support multiple devices, and it can make calls independent of the phone’s connection.

The interface of the WhatsApp UWP app is based on WinUI, but it was also inspired by the defunct Windows Phone version. The cleaner interface is consistent with the web version of WhatsApp, and it matches the look of Windows 11 thanks to the integrated Mica mica material on the app’s title bar.

Facebook is rolling out a new update for the WhatsApp UWP beta with two improvements – pure dark mode with automatic theme integration and support for a new emoji selection tool in the chatbox.

Dark Mode includes features such as slim headers, a compact settings menu, acrylic, mica materials and support for notifications when social media apps are closed.

Another cool feature of the latest UWP update is support for an inline emoji selection tool. Users can now type “wave” to select the appropriate emoji from the selection tool.

In addition to emoji, you can also use Windows 11’s doodle feature to draw a picture with the doodle board and upload it as a picture. Users can now try the app on Windows 10 and Windows 11 through the Microsoft Store.
