Snapdragon Wear 5100+ is said to be the new chip for Wear OS

The Snapdragon Wear 4100+ isn’t the upgrade many were hoping for. And then there is also the fact that there is no Wear OS 3.0 for partners, only Samsung is already allowed to use this version.

Snapdragon Wear 5100 is coming

However, according to WinFuture, the situation could change soon, as two new chips are on the way, the Snapdragon Wear 5100 and the Snapdragon Wear 5100+. The Plus version is supposed to be the slightly better version.

Among other things, it comes with the well-known QCC5100 co-processor, which enables a much better battery saving mode and there should be an option for better haptic feedback – that would be really necessary.

The new chip for Wear OS is said to be manufactured using the 4nm process, similar to the chip from Samsung found in the Galaxy Watch 4. Samsung is said to be the producer of the SDW 5100(+).

Sounds good, but it will probably be a while before we see the first smartwatches with this chip. New models with the Snapdragon Wear 5100+ and Wear OS 3.0 may not come until the end of 2022.
