Last year, Spotify presented a new gadget called “Car Thing”, which brings the streaming service into the car via a display. This can be interesting if you don’t use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and want a display.
Last year the Spotify Car Thing was described as an experiment, but people seem to be happy with it. Today it’s the next round and Spotify has announced that everyone in the US can buy it.
If you happen to live in the US and want to do this, you can do so via the Spotify website. I don’t think $90 is excessive, but since a smartphone can actually do the job, I think it’s a bit redundant. A smartphone is also required as an internet connection.
And what about a global launch? Spotify has not yet commented on this, so far the focus has been on the USA. But if the demand should increase now, then you might think about a launch with us later.
