Apple may launch a full range of punch-screen iPhone 15 smartphones in 2023

Many speculate that 2022 may be the last year Apple will add “notching” to the iPhone, after which the company will move to a punch-hole screen solution. For example, DSCC’s Ross Young pointed out that Apple is considering introducing a new design for the 2023 iPhone lineup. If so, the Cupertino tech giant should also equip the “iPhone 15” with an under-screen hidden Face ID sensor.

In terms of specific models, the iPhone 15 should continue the four SKU schemes of the iPhone 12 / 13 / 14, but the more entry-level models may be named iPhone 15 / 15 Max (mini or cut).

By next year, it is expected that the four iPhone 15 models will fully switch to the punch-hole design (completely say goodbye to the notch) to further increase the screen ratio of the mobile phone.

By the way, it is rumored that this year’s iPhone 14 high-end series (14 Pro / 14 Pro Max models) may use a titanium alloy body to further improve durability. As for whether Apple will use the same material for all four models, it is currently unknown.

In addition, it was reported earlier that the tech giant is working to introduce under-screen Face ID, but it is said to miss the iPhone 14 in 2022.

Another source said that Apple may have abandoned the Touch ID fingerprint sensor solution under the screen, and instead considered a more advanced Face ID sensor.

From a commercial point of view, this move helps to significantly reduce the manufacturing cost of a single device. But for the vast majority of consumers, it also means they won’t be able to use their fingerprints to unlock.
