Sonos today introduced the Roam SL. This is a portable speaker that was hinted at a few days ago. And the new version is also explained very quickly: It’s the well-known Sonos Roam from 2021, just without the microphone.
The rest of the features are exactly the same, so you can click the link above and read my review (or watch the video below). The still open and exciting question, however, was the price of the Sonos Roam SL.
Sonos would like to have 179 euros for the Roam SL, advance sales have already started on the Sonos website. The market launch is on March 15th, so it will start in two weeks and there is also a dark and light version.
Two things about the Sonos Roam SL
There are two issues with an SL version: Some are afraid of being eavesdropped on a microphone, so this can help. But assistants like Alexa are also gone, so for me, that’s more of a disadvantage. And then there’s the price.
The difference in RRP is just £20, and since the Sonos Roam has been around for a while, you can get it for just over £160. Strictly speaking, it is (still) cheaper than the Sonos Roam SL.
