Google Lens: New for the Google Assistant eyes, selecting images for analysis is simplified

With Google Lens, it is very easy to analyze images and search for recognized objects, text or other details. While the app concentrated on the live image in the first few years, the focus has recently shifted to the images already stored locally and this area is now being further improved.

Google Lens is a really powerful tool that is probably still unknown or at least completely underestimated in the masses. Despite being integrated into several popular products such as Photos or Assistant, it feels like it’s hardly ever used – especially not in the live image.

It’s no wonder that Lens was extended to include the simple analysis of local images a long time ago, and this is now being expanded further. Instead of concentrating on screenshots, as before, individual folders can be selected after the latest update.

By default, Google Lens offers browsing of screenshots and the camera folder. This should cover most use cases, but sometimes the images are stored elsewhere, such as in the Downloads folder, social media folders, or elsewhere depending on your organization.

Changing folders is now possible via a new drop-down arrow next to the screenshot folder. Just tap, select a recognized folder and the grid with the images in it will appear. A handy update that further simplifies the use of Lens. Previously, the easier way was to open the image through any gallery app and then share it with Lens.
