Windows 11 officially welcomes a new version of the Clipchamp video editing app

If you’ve been waiting for the Movie Maker video editing app to return to the Windows operating system, Clipchamp might be a better choice. After acquiring the company last year, Microsoft is now bundling the software into Windows 11. As a browser-based application, Clipchamp supports trimming, splitting, transitioning, and even screen recording.

Like professional-grade video editing applications like Adobe Premiere Pro, Clipchamp includes a timeline. Using a combination of templates, filters, transitions, and a library of media styles, the interface is designed to be easy to use, making it easy to create and output content with multiple audio tracks.

Interestingly, Microsoft has integrated a set of text-to-speech (TTS) generators based on Azure cloud services for Clipchamp so that creators can use narration in 70 languages, in addition to OneDrive cloud storage linkage.

Clipchamp is now part of Windows 11’s pre-installed apps, Microsoft said, and the company is bringing beta improvements to the search experience. Windows Insider program leads Amanda Langowski explained that the update from next week will bring regularly updated content (such as fun episodes) to the Start and search boxes to help users discover more, stay connected, and be productive.

In addition, Microsoft will continue to improve and clear some stubborn problems on Windows. For example, the update of the print queue will more match the overall design style of Windows 11, and Quick Assist and Windows Sandbox will welcome icons based on the Fluent design language.

Finally, Windows Media Player has been renamed to Windows Media Player Legacy, meaning it will soon disappear completely from the Windows 11 operating system. If all goes well, the above changes will be rolled out to all users in the coming weeks.
