Nintendo stops shipping goods to Russia, completes exit from three major console makers

Following Russia’s military action against Ukraine, Russian officials have called on video game publishers, especially major console makers, to boycott the Russian market. At this point, most major players – including Activision Blizzard, Epic Games, Ubisoft, EA, CD Projekt Red, Microsoft and Sony have indeed gone to suspend operations in Russia.

Now it can be said that there is only one major domino left to fall, and it is Nintendo. While the Switch eShop is unavailable in Russia due to payment issues, no more intentional action has been taken.

Now that has changed – in a new statement provided to Eurogamer, Nintendo said they had suspended shipments to Russia and confirmed that the eShop will remain in maintenance mode for the foreseeable future. Nintendo said that the logistics of selling in Russia are too complicated now.

And just like that, all three major console makers have suspended sales in Russia. Separately, Nintendo also recently announced that they have delayed the release of Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp in light of recent events in Ukraine. A new release date for the game has yet to be announced.
