Not getting MIUI 13 on your Xiaomi? That’s why

The official announcement was held at the end of 2021, with the Global counterpart at the beginning of 2022, but there are those who own a Xiaomi smartphone and are still waiting for the MIUI 13.

Although months have passed since its presentation, the proprietary interface now in its thirteenth edition is making some wait. Precisely for this reason, today I want to explain why the major update is coming to some and others not.

Like any major update, in this case by Xiaomi, even the MIUI 13 needs time before it can be definitively established. If you follow our articles, you will have noticed that the timing with which its updates are released does not follow a line that is always precise and intuitive.

Basically, we start from the most recent top of the range, to then move on to those of the previous generation, to the medium/high range models, finally to the mid-range and entry-level. However, a rather annoying phenomenon can also happen, namely the MIUI 13 is released for your model but you do not receive it.

As annoying as it may be, this is a signal that should instead reassure you, because it shows how Xiaomi is cautious with the release of updates that need further testing. Each Xiaomi update goes through various stages: you start from the very first Alpha ROM, then lower to the Beta ROMs and finally to the Stable ROMs.

But between Beta and Stable there is an intermediate step that responds to the name of Stable Beta, or ROMs technically ready to be released publicly but on which Xiaomi is not yet 100% sure. As a result, Stable Beta ROMs are sent only to Mi Pilots, i.e. users who have done the previous beta testing work.

If that’s not enough, even when an update like MIUI 13 is released publicly, it often happens that the roll-out is gradual. In this way, if the presence of disabling bugs is reported in the ROM, Xiaomi can stop its release and prevent it from reaching too many people.

Also because in the past it happened that certain updates ended up invalidating the use of the phone. Let’s be clear: Xiaomi is not the only one to follow this procedure, precisely because software bugs can be around the corner for any manufacturer. At this point, we could talk about the speed and capillarity of updates, but that’s another matter.
