Android Auto wireless has been around for a few years, but adoption by automakers has been slow. This week Subaru announced that it will support both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wirelessly in the 2023 Outback model.
Subaru has been supporting both Android Auto and CarPlay in its vehicles for some years now, but so far only in a wired version, forcing users to resort to a third-party gadget to connect their smartphones wirelessly.
Subaru will support Android Auto and Wireless CarPlay in Outback 2023
The 2023 Subaru Outback will be the automaker’s first vehicle to support both platforms via the “Starlink” infotainment system that will make it even easier to view and control navigation, music, podcasts and other content and apps without having to connect your smartphone.
The 2023 Outback will also feature an updated version of Starlink with an 11.6-inch touchscreen and “What Three Words” geolocation technology for integrated navigation, as well as a new “Valet Mode”.
The vehicle still uses a 2.5-liter internal combustion engine with a maximum consumption of 33 miles per gallon on the highway. The price has not been confirmed, but the existing 2022 Outback starts at around $28,000. Unfortunately, Subaru has not specified in which trim levels the Starlink feature will be available.
