Instagram is apparently planning a feature that would let you pin posts to your profile. The first indications of this were already in January 2022. Now a spokesperson for Metas has confirmed to his colleagues at TechCrunch that this option is already being tested.
The pinned posts should then stick over the photo tile overview. Selected users can access this option by selecting one of their own images and then using the new pinning option from the three-dot menu. Unfortunately, nothing has arrived at me yet.

Can be a very nice thing if you want to permanently highlight certain photos or videos. Especially people who have a high output on Instagram may want to use it.
You can already pin stories on Instagram in your profile. Extending this option to photos would only be obvious.
