Tesla CEO Elon Musk said Wednesday that Twitter should encrypt its direct messages end-to-end to ensure security. Signal, a private messaging app supported by Musk, provides end-to-end encryption, writing in a tweet: Twitter’s DM (direct messages) should have end-to-end encryption like Signal so that no one can monitor or hack into your information.
Unlike Signal and Whatsapp, which is owned by Meta’s instant messaging platform, Twitter’s direct messages are not encrypted end-to-end. Whatsapp introduced end-to-end encryption in 2016.

Musk could make some key changes to the social media site he bought for $44 billion. The world’s richest man has promised to restore free speech on Twitter. It’s the first time he’s talked about securely encrypting Twitter’s direct messages.
this feature prevents third parties from accessing the data when data is transmitted from a one-end system. the service provider or any third party cannot read the contents of the messages because they are encrypted on the user’s device and not by the website’s servers.
