Twitter is testing Liked by Author hashtags

It is reported that Twitter is testing another feature: the “Liked by Author” label. The feature, discovered by Techcrunch, is similar to TikTok’s “Like by Creator” badge. When the author or original creator of a tweet likes it, it will display a prominent flag in the reply.

Techcrunch first spotted the feature in the Twitter Android app. Twitter, on the other hand, confirmed that it is currently testing various apps to help its users better receive context for the details they see on the platform. However, the company declined to share more information about the features being tested and other labels being tested. It’s unclear how many users took part in the test, but Techcrunch reported that many users from other countries reported discovering the new tab.

As mentioned earlier, the Liked by Author tag will appear on replies that were liked by the original poster of the tweet. The label will be included in a grey box to make it more visible. It is visible to both the person who has the reply and other users who will see the tweet. Obviously, new tabs are helpful in many situations, especially if you’re one of those users with a large following. And for influencers and celebrities, it can be a tool for quick interactions with fans who often reply to their tweets. Plus, it can act as a form of incentive, allowing others to see the user acknowledge their opinion in a long line, rather than messaging them manually.

However, given the current setup of tweets and replies on Twitter, the new hashtag may be a distraction for some. It will add additional details of the individual who has the reply. That said, it may make the tweet more visually crowded, as it adds more text to read. Fortunately, the Liked by Author hashtag isn’t official yet, so Twitter has yet to make a decision on whether to actually make it available to all users around the world or make major changes to improve it.
