OnePlus entered the TWS headphone segment a long time ago. For the first time, headphones are now being marketed with the Nord branding, which marks the price-performance segment at OnePlus. But even at a cost of 49 euros, the TWS market is certainly highly competitive, the Nord Buds offer the following at this price.
The OnePlus Nord Buds, which weigh just under 4.8 grams, contain 12.4 mm, titanium drivers. Those are supposed to provide “rich bass”, but also “razor-sharp highs” – you have to see whether these are just empty marketing shells or whether there is really something behind them. Like many other OnePlus headphones, Dolby Atmos is also supported. Of course, the surround sound is emulated.
There are 4 microphones in the Nord Buds, which should help filter background noise and enable low-noise telephony. Active noise suppression is not offered, but this is not a matter of course for all manufacturers in this price segment – others still offer it.
The connection to the smartphone is via Bluetooth 5.2. In connection with a OnePlus smartphone, an ultra-low latency mode with 94 ms is also possible. Fast Pair is offered with OnePlus smartphones – but Google Fast Pair for all Android devices is not included. With OnePlus smartphones, the corresponding settings can be found in the Bluetooth settings, for other devices you have to make the settings via the HeyMelody app.
30 hours of music playback are in the buds (each 41 mAh and the associated charging case (480 mAh), the earplugs themselves come to 7 hours. Within 10 minutes of charging, the headphones are ready for 5 hours of audio playback again. The charging case is charged with a weight of 41 .7 grams via USB-C.
Miscellaneous? The buds are IP55 certified. You are protected against water and sweat and even protected the headphones from corrosion with sweat-resistant nano-coating.
The OnePlus Nord Buds are available at a price of EUR 49. Starting today, these can be pre-ordered in the OnePlus store and from selected partners (Amazon, MediaMarkt, Saturn, etc.), and will be delivered on May 24, 2022.
