Netflix announces $100 million investment in special effects company in South Korea

According to reports, the US streaming platform Netflix announced a new round of investment plans in South Korea. Netflix’s Scanline VFX will set up a new special effects production company in South Korea by 2027, with a total investment of $100 million, the Korea Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said.

Scanline VFX was established in Munich in 1989. After several years of development, it has offices in Los Angeles, London, Vancouver, Montreal, and Stuttgart. Scanline VFX has participated in the special effects production of many Hollywood hot IP movies, such as “Batman” “The guide version of “Justice League” and other works.

Scanline VFX was acquired by Netflix last year, and the deal was completed in the first quarter of 2022, but the size of the deal was not disclosed.
