The official version of Windows 11 22H2 will be released in late September or early October

According to the latest report, before any major software is generally available (GA), hardware partners and software developers must ensure that their products are compatible and ready. Microsoft’s Windows 11 is no exception, and to that end, the company has a Windows Hardware Compatibility Program (WHCP) that helps verify compatible hardware.

Earlier today, Microsoft announced the WHCP submission start date for Windows 11 version 22H2 via a blog post. It will start in a few days on May 31st. The post also confirms what was hinted earlier that Windows 11 Build 22621 is indeed an RTM build.

Additionally, Microsoft mentions that submissions will last until September 5, 2022, which means Windows 11 version 22H2 will become GA after that, possibly in late September or October.

A Microsoft blog post says:

Before September 5, 2022, Windows 11 version 22H2-based systems may ship with drivers that are already compatible with Windows 11 version 21H2. Partners wishing to implement systems compatible with Windows 11, version 22H2 can use drivers for Windows 11, version 21H2-compatible components until September 5, 2021.

It’s important to note, however, that Microsoft may push back the date if there are some major issues that some hardware vendors need to fix. Last time Microsoft leaked the GA version of Windows 11 21H2 in a similar fashion.
