No surprises, the Google Pixel Watch lasts about 24 hours on a single charge

According to the latest report, previously revealing key specifications of Google’s watch Pixel Watch, such as the chip and health sensor, can now provide some details about the battery life of Google’s first wearable device.

The exact battery capacity of Google’s upcoming Pixel Watch is just under 300 mAh. According to sources, the Pixel Watch can last up to 24 hours a day on a single charge. This is currently estimated by Google in the pre-release lifecycle stage and may change prior to release.

It’s unclear under what conditions the Pixel Watch was tested. Another question is whether Google includes sleep tracking in that number, and whether to use the watch on a full charge throughout the day and then track sleep without charging before waking up.

All in all, this battery life is pretty standard for Wear OS and matches what the Fossil Gen 6 advertises. Samsung claims 40 hours of use, and the 40mm Galaxy Watch 4 and its 247mAh battery will last around a day. Only the larger 44mm Galaxy Watch 4 can meet Samsung’s 40-hour claim. Meanwhile, Apple only advertises an 18-hour battery life for the Apple Watch when counting an hour of exercise, but most users think it’s better.

Meanwhile, we learned that the Pixel Watch doesn’t offer fast charging via its magnetic-to-USB-C cable. It’s nowhere near as fast as Apple’s current offering (the Apple Watch Series 7), which hits 0-80% in about 45 minutes and 0-100% in 75 minutes via USB-C with a 20W adapter.

Another comparison is the Fossil Gen 6 with a 300 mAh battery, which charges 0-80% in “about half an hour.” The Pixel Watch’s full charge estimate is closer and takes longer than the 110 minutes it takes the Galaxy Watch 4 to fully charge, which is “not fast enough.”
