iOS 16 also supports Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons and Pro Controllers

Although Apple’s official website did not clearly state it, foreign technology media MacRumors reported that iOS 16 added support for Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons and Pro Controller. Riley Testut, the developer of the iOS video game emulator Delta, shared the news in a recent tweet.

In a series of tweets, Testut stated that iOS 16 could support standalone Joy-Cons left/right controllers, or support Joy-Cons with full controllers. Testut added that the Joy-Con can be dynamically switched between using the Joy-Con alone or as a combined controller by holding down the screenshot and home buttons for a few seconds.

Testut also confirmed that iOS 16 supports the Nintendo Switch’s Pro Controller, a more traditional-looking game controller. The controller can be customized in the Bluetooth menu of the Settings app on iOS 16, and developers can use the beta version of the feature starting today. Apple said the public beta of iOS 16 will be released in July, with a software update coming in the fall.
