Samsung releases new Odyssey G85NB/G75NB/G40B gaming monitors

Samsung has just refreshed its three-line Odyssey monitor family, which will begin rolling out to global markets this month. These include the G85NB (G8) and G75NB (G7) models with 1000R curvature, and the GB40B (G4) model with a flat-screen. It is worth mentioning that both the G8 and G4 models support a high refresh rate of 240Hz, while the G7 model only supports up to 165Hz.

First introduce the Odyssey Neo G8, which uses a 32-inch @ 4K (3840×2160) resolution 1000R curved VA panel. It is also supported by Quantum Matrix Technology, covering 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, supplemented by a 240Hz refresh rate / 1-ms grayscale response time (GtG).

Hyesung Ha, Executive Vice President of Samsung’s Visual Display Business, commented:

We’re excited to introduce the industry’s fastest 4K gaming monitor, unlocking more innovation opportunities to the market, complemented by an incredibly immersive experience. Players can expect a thrilling scene experience similar to their game characters, thanks to the superior functionality and lifelike picture quality of the Odyssey display line.

Next is the Odyssey Neo G7, which uses a 32-inch @ 4K resolution 1000R curved VA panel, but only supports a maximum refresh rate of 165Hz, supplemented by a 1-ms grayscale response time. Obviously, the curved screen can bring a deeper sense of immersion, and both G7 and G7 support Quantum HDR 2000, FreeSync Premium Pro and CoreSync Lighting technology.

Finally, there is the Odyssey G4, which has an optional 25/27-inch @ FHD (1920×1080) resolution IPS flat screen and supports up to 240Hz refresh rate / 1-ms grayscale response time. Unlike VA panels, IPS panels have wider viewing angles and support HDR10 high dynamic range. In addition, this series of monitors are compatible with AMD FreeSync Premium / NVIDIA G-Sync adaptive refresh rate technology.

In terms of ports, both the G8 and G7 models offer DisplayPort 1.4 + HDMI 2.1 video inputs, as well as a USB 3.0 hub. The G4 model is a combination of DisplayPort 1.2 + HDMI 2.0. In addition, all monitors are equipped with adjustable stands that support height, tilt, pitch, and rotation adjustments.

You can also wall mount them if desired. Finally, Samsung has yet to disclose the exact price and release date of the series of Odyssey gaming monitors, but final pricing will certainly vary by market region.
