WhatsApp is available in new beta version 2.22.13.11 for Android. Superficially, the innovations are limited. However, an interesting feature is being prepared behind the scenes: the export of chat backups.
Your backups are currently going to Google Drive on Android. A new option should allow you to export the backups from there if you want to save them elsewhere yourself. The exports then contain your chat history with messages, but also images, videos and other media. According to WABetaInfo, a method is also being worked on at the same time to import such exported backups again.
When WhatsApp could really distribute this new function is completely open. This export function is currently still in the works, so it is not yet available in the beta either.
