Xbox Game Pass launches new demo service Project Moorcroft, free to play unreleased games

Microsoft announced at the “What’s Next for Gaming” media communication conference “Project Moorcroft”, a trial service for XGP users and independent game developers. This project aims to bring early game demos, aka demo demos of games, to Xbox Game Pass users. Project Moorcroft is scheduled to launch next year.

Sarah Bond, Microsoft’s head of the gaming ecosystem, described “Project Moorcroft” as a way to feel like an E3-like experience. Because before fans can try some limited demos and early game demos of unreleased games at E3 or PAX

According to reports, the project is still underway at Microsoft, but the plan is to start rolling out curated game demos next year. This service is designed to provide opportunities for independent developers from all over the world. Participating developers can obtain the data required for development before the game is released, and receive more feedback from players to better improve the game.

It is worth mentioning that any game developer will be subsidized. Microsoft said the program was set up to financially reward developers who took the time to make demos.

“We’ve rolled out the program and made structural adjustments so that developers can get the financial compensation that really benefits their games, while also getting good feedback,” Bond explained.

Microsoft hopes that by subsidizing developers participating in the program, they can bring their ideas to the Xbox and reach a wider audience through XGP. Microsoft has yet to announce further news, and more news will be announced at the Xbox & Bethesda conference held on June 13.
