With Android 12, the Mountain View giant has launched Game Dashboard, a feature that made its debut on the Google Pixel 6 series. We remind you that this is a solution that, taking advantage of the APIs of the Android 12 game mode, provides passionate users of video games with quick access to a series of useful tools, allowing them to make changes to take advantage of optimized performance.
The Game Dashboard feature switches to Google Play Services
Unfortunately, until now Game Dashboard has remained an exclusive feature of Google’s smartphones but in the future, the situation could change radically, at least this is what seems to suggest the alleged intention of the developer team of the Mountain View giant to include it in Google Play Services.
Mishaal Rahman has been following Google’s work on this important change for some time even if at the moment he is not able to say with certainty that thanks to it the Game Dashboard functionality is actually destined to land on smartphones from other manufacturers. The Game Dashboard function implemented through Google Play Services seems identical to the previous version and probably behaves in the same way but it remains unclear why the developer team of the Mountain View giant to make the decision to make this change.Since this is currently an exclusive feature of the Google Pixel series, the manufacturers of other smartphones have developed their own similar solutions but with Android 13 the Mountain View giant could allow interested OEMs to exploit it freely.
The hope is to learn more soon and not to have to wait for the autumn (i.e. when the definitive version of Android 13 will be launched) to find out if Game Dashboard will finally be made available to all users of the Google OS.
