PS5 update 22.01-05.50.00.08 available, firmware update details

A new update for the PS5 firmware is available: it is the system update 22.01-05.50.00.08, just released by Sony. The download weight is 1,061 GB. After the patches of Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7, it is therefore also up to PlayStation 5 to update its software, in this case with the introduction of new features.

The main novelty is the support for additional features for the low latency mode, ALLM, for compatible TVs. By setting this option to automatic, the TV will turn it on by default when playing games. If you turn it off, it will only go into action in VRR mode.

For the rest, the details provided by Sony are vague: the system update improves the general performance of the console, but no specific situations or particular problems solved with the new firmware are indicated.

As you may recall, the previous PS5 update, version 22.01-05.10.00.23, was released in May.
