OriginOS 3 features review

OriginOS 3 has now finally become a live part of the Vivo developer conference. This is the third major version of the OS and it comes with several handy features.

Experience:

As mentioned earlier, OriginOS 3 developed based on Android 13 mainly polishes the bottom layer of the system, and deeply optimizes the intelligent computing center and Linux bottom layer scheduling. With the addition of memory fusion technology, it is officially said that it can achieve 48 months of anti-aging effect.

Based on this, we took the lead in conducting a more stringent background retention test of 30 apps that were repeatedly opened in sequence. The first OriginOS 3 mobile phone killed two apps and one mobile game, and in the second test, only one was killed. App. The OriginOS 2 phone with the same 12GB of memory killed a total of 8.

Although the two mobile phones have different degrees of heating in the later stage of the test, the results are still significantly improved compared to the previous generation.

In the 5-hour background retention test simulating 8 commonly used apps (instant messaging apps + shopping apps + video apps), none of the apps on OriginOS 3 phones were killed, and these mainstream apps should have been specially optimized for “opening the back door”.

OriginOS 3 also has a visual smoothness 2.0. When the system detects that the mobile phone display frame rate is not high enough or the frame-to-frame change is large, it will simulate the motion blur effect through a software algorithm to compensate for the incoherence and jerky problems in the animation process.

But it is limited to 60Hz scenes. To be honest, I am used to using high brushes. Even with frame rate compensation, it is difficult to adapt to the split feeling of 60Hz. This function may be more useful for 60Hz 100 yuan phones, and it is a small easter egg function that is better than nothing for high-brush mobile phones.

Another interesting feature of OriginOS 3 this time is the in-situ resurrection mechanism. When the whitelisted app is killed in the background due to insufficient memory or other reasons, the mechanism will record the state of the app before it is cleaned up, so that the user can start the app again. Quickly return to the previous state and progress.

The actual test is that this function is useful. After the whitelisted App is killed and then clicked into it, there is a response processing time of about 0.5s, and the speed is still passable.

However, some information apps with their own open-screen advertisements and video apps with non-member advertisements are not very useful, and the background retention capability of OriginOS 3 has been improved. In most non-extreme application scenarios, these Functions are difficult to trigger, but occasionally triggering can give you a sense of surprise with the details in place.

Features

OriginOS 3 adds a WYSIWYG icon mode based on the original icon widget folder format, that is, you can directly click to start the large folder of the app. OriginOS 3 has further adapted and optimized the small window.

The 30 commonly used apps and games tested above all support windowing, and the outgoing logic has been further optimized. Now supports swiping inwards in the lower left corner of the App to call out, calling out from the background multitasking interface and calling out from the sidebar.

The small window also supports custom sizes, and you can switch mini-windows in scenarios such as map navigation and watching videos to view App information. Single-click to restore the normal small window, double-click to return to the full screen of the application, slide to the edge of the screen, and drag to the bottom to delete the mini-window. This interactive logic is much better than the previous generation’s system.

In addition, OriginOS 3 also has a new unfair scheduling mechanism, which can realize the priority scheduling of system resources to the foreground, suspend the background demand, and ensure that the foreground application has sufficient computing power and runs more smoothly.

Therefore, when playing games and using the App window, the running stability of OriginOS 3 models has been significantly improved. At the same time, the more commonly used chicken-eating smooth image quality 90-frame mode + Douyin brushing video was tested, and the average number of frames in a game was measured. 89.8fps, the power consumption of the whole game is 5.3W, mainly because there is almost no major performance fluctuation, and the performance is still remarkable.

To sum up, briefly, OriginOS 3 is as stable and good as the products of the Blue Factory series. Although there are no major new features and functions, it is rooted in the basic needs of users to make up for the shortcomings of the small window and deeply polish the fluency of the system.

Once again, the above system experience is based on Vivo X80 Pro (Snapdragon 8 Gen1+12GB), the indoor environment is not plugged into the WIFI mode, and the system firmware OriginOS 3 13.1.8.12, personal experience is for reference only.
