Google Discover enhances content recommendations to include app-based suggestions

Google has introduced a series of software innovations alongside the new Pixel Tablet, one of which brings a significant upgrade to Google Discover. While previously focused on recommending web content, the latest version of Discover now takes into account the apps utilized on devices with larger screens.

Initially, the recommendations on the new Pixel Tablet are limited to Google TV content and compatible streaming apps such as Disney+ and ZDF Mediathek. These recommendations are displayed as a row at the top of the screen, accompanied by an expandable menu button for further exploration.

Within the “Personalization” settings, users can customize the selection of streaming apps considered for recommendations. Presently, this feature excludes news apps and other applications, although future updates may broaden the range of eligible apps in the long run.
