Samsung prepares for launch of Galaxy Tab S9+ with regulatory approvals

Samsung is progressing with the release of its highly anticipated Galaxy Tab S9 series by obtaining mandatory regulatory approvals. Last week, the base models, Galaxy Tab S9 and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, successfully passed through Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). Although the Plus variant was initially absent, Samsung has confirmed its plans to bring it to the market.

Following in the footsteps of its counterparts, the Galaxy Tab S9+ has now received NBTC approval, further solidifying Samsung’s commitment to continuing the successful Tab S legacy. This development suggests that the company is on track to launch three high-end tablet models in the near future.

While the NBTC has not disclosed an exact release date, industry insiders expect Samsung to unveil the Galaxy Tab S9 series at the upcoming Unpacked event, anticipated to take place on July 27. Notably, the NBTC has revealed that the Galaxy Tab S9+ carries the model number SM-X816B, indicating its compatibility with 5G technology. Additionally, it is anticipated that Wi-Fi-only versions of the tablet will also be available.

Although the exterior design of Samsung’s high-end tablets has reached its pinnacle, the Galaxy Tab S9+ is likely to feature minor aesthetic enhancements. However, the real improvements lie beneath the surface, as the device is expected to house the advanced Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and come pre-installed with One UI 5.1.1.

Samsung recently launched the One UI 5.1.1 beta program in Korea for its existing Galaxy Tab S8 series, enhancing multitasking capabilities and the overall S Pen experience. Notable enhancements include improved usability of split-screen and pop-up views, as well as a feature that displays a small app preview when hovering the S Pen over app shortcuts in the taskbar.

As with previous Galaxy Tab S flagship models, Samsung will offer a range of keyboard covers designed to enhance productivity for tablet users. Whether there will be any adjustments to the pricing of these accessories remains uncertain. More details regarding the Galaxy Tab S9+ and its accompanying accessories will be revealed later this month. Stay tuned for further updates.
