Google Photos introduces 12 new video effects for Pixel devices and Google One subscribers

Google Photos is enhancing its video editing capabilities by introducing 12 new effects designed to instantly enhance videos with a single tap. These effects aim to add a vibrant touch and visual appeal to videos, making them stand out in various styles.

The existing Google Photos video editor for mobile devices, which has been available since 2021, offers features such as trimming and stabilizing, cropping and rotating, adjusting brightness and contrast, applying filters, and adding annotations using a pen or highlighter. Now, a new “Effects” tab has been added, featuring a selection of 12 unique options:

  • Dust mix
  • Paper tear
  • B&W film
  • Lomo
  • Light leak
  • Film mood
  • Chromatic
  • Fish eye
  • Vintage
  • Layouts
  • Retro Film
  • Poster

Each effect is accompanied by a thumbnail preview, allowing users to quickly visualize the style before applying it to their video clips. The application of these effects is seamless and enables users to immediately witness the transformation in action.

Furthermore, Google has recently revamped the video editor within the Google Photos app for Chromebooks, enhancing the overall editing experience. Additionally, the user interface has been optimized for tablets, featuring a side pane layout that maximizes usability.

Yesterday, Google announced that these exciting new video effects are being rolled out exclusively to Pixel owners and Google One subscribers through the Google Photos app. This update demonstrates Google’s commitment to continually enhancing the editing capabilities and user experience for its valued users.
