Linux kernel implements support for Apple Magic Mouse 2

The standard mouse feature of Apple Magic Mouse 2 can currently work under Linux. The “hid-magic mouse” mainline driver may eventually be expanded to fully support Magic Mouse 2. Magic Mouse 2 was launched half a year ago, and the basic mouse functions can currently use the universal HID interface to input external signals under Linux.

Of course, there have been efforts to see third-party drivers supporting Magic Mouse 2, but the lack of mainline support has always been a problem. The patch submitted for review by the Linux kernel this weekend has been improved on the basis of the hid-magic mouse mainline driver to cover Magic Mouse 2 support.

The developer John Chen issued a set of four patches not long ago to extend the hid-magic mouse driver to cover Magic Mouse 2 and Magic Trackpad 2, so that battery status reports and other features can work under Linux.
