Apple releases transparency report for the first half of 2020

According to the reports, Apple has released the latest transparency report (published twice a year), which details the government and private requirements for data, application deletion or account retention in the first half of 2020. The latest version of the report covers the six-month period from January to June 2020. Although there is not much change from the previous report, there are still some notable contents.

Overall, private and government data requirements have declined compared with the previous six months. In total, Apple received 28,276 requests for 171,368 devices. Apple claims that it meets 80% of the requirements. The total number dropped from 31,778 in the second half of 2019 to 195,577.

Although the total number of requests has declined, the number of government requests for account security is on the rise globally. In the first half of 2020, Apple received 9,872 account storage requests, compared with 6,480 six months ago.
