A large number of Android 12 Beta 4 users suffer from repeated crashes of Android System Intelligence

Except for virtual private network issues and some notifications that do not pop up, Google Android 12 Beta 4 is quite stable in daily use. However, the problem that has appeared in the last day or so is that Android System Intelligence crashes repeatedly on Android 12.

Android System Intelligence is the Device Personalization Services’ new name, in recent weeks, the brand’s remodeling has been extended to 11 Pixel Android mobile phones. ASI/DPS is responsible for Now Playing, Real-time Subtitles, Notification Actions, Screen Follow, Text Highlighting and other similar smart functions.

In the process of being renamed Android System Intelligence, the only significant end-user difference is that the Now Playing home screen icon now appears in the widget table. Reports about its crash started yesterday, and for most users, it happened randomly. Some people noticed that it happened after receiving a notification from the SMS application, which also makes sense, because ASI’s job is to extract the URL, address, and phone number to facilitate the click of a button.

A large number of Pixel 4, 4a and 5 mobile phone users are affected, but not all users. Android 12 Beta 4 seems to have brought the rename of DPS -> ASI, and on earlier operating systems, it is an update of the Play Store. The new version of System Intelligence cannot be properly optimized for the Android 12 system, resulting in a crash.

Users are recommended to report this issue in the Android 12 Beta feedback app. Although it does not have much impact on daily use, it is annoying to close the crash dialog repeatedly.
