Apple’s new MacBook Pro expected to be equipped with health sensors

The future MacBook Pro may be equipped with sensors similar to those in the Apple Watch. Judging from the latest patents, Apple is studying how to add biometric monitoring controls on the palm rest surface. Apple has added Touch ID to the MacBook Pro, which is also a biometric sensor. Apple now hopes to expand its use from the simplest identification to the field of health monitoring.

A portable electronic device with an integrated biosensor is a newly disclosed patent that involves how to integrate the sensor into a notebook computer. Although the described technology can appear in multiple locations on the MacBook Pro, the drawings of the patent show the sensor as a single area under the palm rest of the right hand. According to Apple Insider, the person in charge of Apple also said that the future MacBook Pro may have health sensors.

Although the new design will focus on health monitoring, Apple’s patent also acknowledges that the technology may have other uses. For example, it can be used to enhance the MacBook Pro’s perception of ambient light conditions, thereby automatically adjusting the brightness of its screen. Similarly, if the computer does not detect the user’s palm for a period of time, this may cause the device to determine that the user is away, thereby avoiding privacy leakage.
