As early as June, GitHub announced GitHub Copilot, a new artificial intelligence service that can provide code suggestions for entire lines or entire functions within the IDE environment. GitHub Copilot is suitable for Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Ruby and Go. GitHub Copilot is powered by OpenAI Codex, a new artificial intelligence system created by OpenAI. Since its announcement, Copilot has been criticized by copyright protectionists and the Free Software Foundation.
This week, GitHub announced the following updates to the Copilot service:
- GitHub Copilot now supports Neovim and JetBrains IDE, especially focusing on the latest version of IntelliJ IDEA and PyCharm.
- Added support for multi-line completion in Java.
- Support for more languages will come in the next few months.
- In addition, the GitHub team is now inviting more developers to try the Copilot technology preview.
